Hey everybody,

I'm building up a little home studio at the moment, and I'm in dire need of a good pair of studio monitors. I'm looking for something that sounds pure but doesn't cost too much.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
tim

I just scored a pair of Dynaudio BM5A's and I'm way happy with them.
What's your budget?

I'm inclined to ask the same question as the others - budget wise - but I'm guesing (correct me if I'm wrong) that $1000 (or euro's) for a pair of BM5A's is "too much" (not to mention the BM6A's).

Anyway, in the less expensive segment there are two monitors that get reasonable reviews - the Yorkville YSM1P's and the Wharfedale 8.2 Diamond Pro's. Then there are some that feel Behringer Truth's are good value for money - I wouldn't go with Behringer. Some other monitors that some people really like (and others dislike) are the KRK RP5's and RP6's. FWIW: I personally have the Wharfedale's and choose them over RP5's and Truth's.

Please be sure to check-out a passive setup. You can do quite well for around $400.

Thanks guys,

I've been considering the behringers, but haven't checked out the wharfedale's (never really been a big fan of their stuff). Has anybody heard the M-Audio Studio Pro3's? They are priced really really well and I'm not looking to spend to much. I'm also not looking to go over the top with the equipment i have.

Thanks

I use a set of Studio Pro 3's as my computer speakers ... more low end than you'd expect from 3 inch drivers, but it's quite pillowy. I wouldn't mix on them, but they're nice for the PC, IMO.
