hey all...so i got a rosetta 800 a month ago (used 2 firepods previously) and from day 1 have had a problem that i have been unable to solve. the issue (which never popped up with the firepods) is that when i play back any audio from my macbook pro (connected to the rosetta through x-firewire 400 with properly updated firmware and drivers) i get a lot of distortion. the only way to get rid of the distortion is to use the apogee firemix utility and manually turn the output level down to like 25% or so, and turn my monitors up a ton. i have opened the rosetta up and switched the jumpers to all three settings (different levels), and did my best to play with the audio/midi settings on my mac...but to no avail.

to make matters worse, whenever i record, if i let the preamp get even close to 60% on the rosetta's level (no where near clipping as seen in the firemix software and on the rosetta's front panel) distortion adds up to an unacceptable level. and it does not matter what preamp or mic i use...i have a solo 110, and some sca pres that do 70db easy so it is not those that are the problem...and there is no problem for the firepods.

i am able to use the rosetta for the most part, but only when i turn everything down a lot on the firemix, and keep the inputs pretty low...using soft limit is out of the question for the distortion is unbearable at that level.

trying to use hardware inserts (A-Designs Hammer, Distressor, Portico Comp) is useless unless i set the output and input gain really low.

i am really getting frustrated because i cannot figure out what the problem may be...any help would be MUCH APPRECIATED!!
