If you leave the mesh in, you get a C-12 type mic with a 47-ish vibe. I tried it with/without mesh (had a 2nd 460 top to experiment) and for me I preferred the mesh in. It's easy to get lost in the details with these mods. Lucio and Michael should be given awards for the work they've done here helping all of us get the most out of these inexpensive mics. The basics of these mods are quite simple. The first thing is slap in a 6072a tube. You may not even want to do another mod, they don't sound bad stock. If you want to keep going, do the xfrmr and capsule. If you don't do anything else to your mic, you'll still have a great mic. Do one mod and listen, as has been so often recommended here before.

The mushroom-iness was not intended! The top was a little to round and it just got that way when I tried to flatten it. I'll have to look and see what mesh I used from small parts. I'll let you know....I forgot but I think I'll be able to figure it out if I go to the site.
Haven't tried a 5751 it might be cool.

I forgot if I went into detail about this. Forming the dome was done by using a pipe from home depot slightly less in diameter than the 460's metal body tube itself. You can form it pretty easily that way and you can wrap the mesh around the metal tube or the pipe to form the main portion of the new grill

Just wanted to let you all know that I updated my schematics, mostly the 1050's here. Just scroll down a bit. But I'm not done yet. I plan on trying some new parts in the near future. Lucio
