Anybody know a good resource for rental of higher end equipment for sessions? I think I read years back about a place, but it escapes me....
I'll be going into a Roland VS 1680...got good results with that in 2005 for our last project (offsite mastering) but I noticed the lack of a great front end...I have mid-level...Sytek mic pre, some ART stuff...a PreSonus comp...I'm thinking of spot placing some rental equipment for upcoming sessions... Thoughts? RD |

Now its coming back to me...that's right! Popmann was the source of that info...but I think that goes back to his/our days at the VS website! He'll see this eventually...or I'll em him...thanks! RD

I've used two of those...albeit when DreamHire was local here. Seems like I called them one time and they laughed at me when I said I'd ome down an pick it up this afternoon...
DOT actually recommended a place out of Atlanta, if I remember right. Here's what's tought about rental places, IMO...do you want to rent something that's current production that you're looking to buy? Or just looking to rent something to make a nice one off recording? I've found they're more likely to have vintage gear to rent than modern manufacture. |

The vintage stuff would be fine/prefferable actually...I'm just looking to rent for a week or two to upgrade my front end for the current project we're doing...mostly for vox. Actually, we're also planning to rent PA equipment for some bigger venue things we're working on for 2009 (bigger for us is 500 people outside at a gazebo-that kind of thing, but we're adding drums and keys and need more outside thump than my Mackie sub and 450's deliver)...and as we've explored that possibility I started thinking about also renting mic pres/comp....it could allow me to be in the "game" without having thousands of dollars sitting unused in my studio after the project is done.
Thanks for the info, all...I'll look into it...RD |
