Walker was talking about recording piano the other day, and I just did a session on the weekend mic'g up the C3 so thought I'd throw an example up.
This is just a live one take of a song in pre-prod, where we wanted to try some new gear out. The jury is out for the guy playing (and who's gear it is) on the 414's but I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. I've used XLS' before, but only on drums. Finally having a "pair" of mics at his studio made things much easier. First time using the Daking since we got it. I normally would use the Flamingo for piano, but it went down (long story) so all we had was the Daking. I think for anything in more of a rock / pop vein, I'd lean this way again, but for ballady stuff, my first choice would be the Flamingo. Didn't get a chance to try Ronan's 57 technique but I'll try next time. Really, really loved the Daking + SM7b on vox. mics + pre eg |

I've already commented via PM. Just thought I'd give you a bump.

Thanks bro. It's funny, right after I posted this, I asked myself "why did I even bother posting this!?" lol...as usual, it's a waste of time. But I've learned my lesson! |
