Hey guys,

I have read the reviews on this site about the Vienna and have been thinking about getting one. I am finally shopping around for one now and am coming across this new Mark 8 edition. Does anybody know the difference between this and the regular Vienna, or has anybody used one yet?

Thanks!

Anyone have any comments? Anyone? Bueller?

I currently use an AT2020 (cheap $100 LDC) and an ElectroHarmonix tube preamp. Clean sound, just not detailed. Does it sound like the Vienna would be a step up for me? The raves and reviews on this forum are all that I am going by.

Thanks for your help!

I was waiting to see any comments on this because I'm not sure of the difference myself. I have one of the original Vienna's and the only thing I can say is that I love mine. Great on vocals and acoustic guitars especially. Don't have any AT mics but I have a Studio Projects B1 which is in the same ballpark I think and although I like that mic also there's definately a step up to the Vienna. Much richer sounding to me. Just sounds like a better mic all around. I think you would like the ADK if you got one.

I asked this question to the guys at Vienna a few weeks ago. they wrote back and said the mk8 can handle higher spl's, but that was the only difference. I have no working knowledge of the mics, but have also been looking at getting a vienna.

If you're talking about the ADK Vienna, they'll let you audition the mic - in other words, if you don't like it you can send it back. Just make sure to clear it with your retailer before purchase, or get with War at Front End Audio (on the internet.)

The guys at ADK are all about making sure the customer is happy, and the quality of their mics reflects that goal.

cool, thanks for your input! It's reassuring to have a little back up when your purchasing blindly. I know a lot of retailers will let you try them out, but I don't really like doing that.

thanks!
