I'm looking to get started with home recording, and I need to know what digital recorders are good to start with. I need something pretty user friendly and it needs to ne high quality enough for demo work. I also dont have tons of money set aside at the moment, so I'm looking for good value. Please let me know what i need to be looking for, and i'd greatly appreciate specific models.

Well, if your comfortable working with PC's, you could get an M-Audio Audiophile2496, N-Track multitrack software, and partition your drive so that one partition is strickly audio apps and the rest(IE,Word, etc.) on the other partition.
Otherwise, if your like me, you could go hardware, like the Roland VS880, Tascam 788, etc...
Talk to Jake at www.humbuckermusic.com as he's a pretty honest/down-to-earth guy. Smile

I have a Roland VS-1680. I'm very happy with it.
It took awhile to learn, but it's a great tool.
There is an awesome support site for Roland users called the VS Planet. Very cool people, helpful and friendly with one goal: Quality Recordings!

You can check e-bay for a VS-1680. Some of them come included with the cd burner.

Good luck on your quest!
