I'm curious as to why an outboard D/A makes the decision on a platform size? Seems like something(the Lucid or other) to use either in monitoring or interfacing outboard analog gear, or possibly mixing to analog. What am I missing?
that's my second favorite song of all time...everything else is tied for first though.

I imagine he's looking at a fixed amount of money to buy both pieces.
IMO, if that's the situation-get the DPS24. Don't even bother with a 2 channel D/A. Wait until you can get an 8 channel ADAT unit like the ADi8, then you can dedicate two of the outs to feed your monitors if you really feel the need to not use the DPS24's D/A.

Yeah that the situation. I look into your advice, the onboard D/A on the DPS has been known to be higher quality than most SIAB's. Thanks. Just wanted to know. Actually I already got a confirmation from another post that the ADI-2 is even up there with the Lucid AD9624(not even the cheaper DA). So thats a promising future referance.
Everything you need is right where you are, but planning while optional is cool too.
