What do I have to get to be able to run a unit like this?

simple. someone to make you a custom rack / power supply, like is done with any other number of racked channel strips / pres / eq's from consoles..

I wouldn't bother for an SSL EQ. For a compressor, yes.

I always went as far out of my way as possible to not use their Preamps or EQ's. (Back in my dark ages of working on Consoles)

I don't know about in Chicago, but I know local guru,John Vrtacic, has done a load of this stuff for Bob Rock and Metallica just to name a couple.

John does this sorta stuff in his sleep. You could contact him, as he obviously does stuff in the States, but I'd call Mercenary and get them to recommend someone too.

You could also talk to Brian Roth about racking. Done some great stuff in the past.
