I got one of these some time back from MF. For $29, I just had to get one. I was organizing my music room today. Inspired by how a tube upgrade affected my V69ME, I decided to pop the lid on the MP Studio. It has a 12AX7. I just happened to have a spare Sovtek 12AX7 with Fender printed on it, so I popped it in. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but I was wondering if anyone here had found a tube change to make much difference. If so, what tube? Doing some research, it looks like there are some other mods for the Tube MP. Mine is the MP Studio, which additionally has the limiter and VU meter. Not knowing enough about electronic routing, I don't know if the mods are exactly the same for the Studio model or not.

i have the art tps||| and i think it is the same think but a 2 channel version with balenced ins/outs. What other mods have you found cuz i am deciding weather im going to keep or sell it (i got a v mixing system off ebay that has its own dank pres) if there is a mod that iproves its sound quality i may keep it because of its flexability.

I have no idea where I downloaded the illustrated PDF of the mods, but I'll be glad to send it if you want to pm me your email address. It's pretty involved.

wretchasketch I have not done this myself , but I've heard of people using Telefunken & GE tubes.

What brand name was the stock one on the ART?

swift , I use to work at a studio that had an ART Channel (don't remenber the name now , but it was a combo unit with pre , eq , and comp) alone with higher end gear like Neve. For a different sound I would sometimes ran the neve's pre out into the Art unit for a touch of tube sound. The resulting hybrid sound was akin to Summit and TLAudio units.

I've done the tube swap in both of my Art pieces, The Pro Channel has a vintage Siemans and 2 Mullards in it and the Pro VLA has Vintage Seimans ECC81's in it.
The Pro Channel really improved with the tube swap, as the tubes get close to full plate voltage.
The VLA tube swap was an improvement, but not as great as the Pro Channel. I didn't check the plate voltage on the Pro VLA but I think it's a starved plate design.

I believe the Tube Mp is a starved plate circuit, so a tube swap will be less noticeable, however you'll never know until you try.
