i was wondering whats the differenc between a big console and just a simple 2 channle preamp. aside the face that it has way more channles. is the quality any different?

You can mix on a console. You can't on a preamp.

The console gives you buses, sends, and sometimes effects on each channel strip with faders for mixing.

A preamp is just the first thing (in simple terms) the signal hits on its way into a console (or a DAW).

lol no actually im just that amature just wanted to make sure. im preety sure thier isnt much differenc as far as sound quality. but thiers studio like ocean way which design thier own consoles crazy!

Difference in "sound quality"? They do completely different things.

One is a mixer (that happens to include mic preamps)...one is nothing BUT a mic preamp.
