WOW!!! I have been renting this series by HBO on DVD..and just finished with the last season.
Though the first few seasons where the best IMO...the finale' was brilliant! The writing is top-shelf....the directorial is top-shelf....I especially love the use of music...as well as the original score... Man I watched the final episode on Sunday, and it is STILL on my mind....I am still contemplating it....I am disturbed and elated all at the same time!!!That is good art... A really ground-breaking show ~no pun intended~ I would recommend it highly. Though initially I was bummed out watching the 5th and final season....the ending was brilliant!!! anyway...any one watch it? and any suggestions for a new series to watch? Cheers, kt "In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert's there are few." |

Brilliant for two and a half seasons...miserable for the next two...then they tied it up nicely at the end of 5, IMO.

yeah it seemed to get a bit stale or something, but I still was hooked at that point...glad they ended it, and so well at that. |

Ever see Dead Like Me? On Showtime. Brilliant. 2 seasons...and the head of Showtime said they'd run the course, and cut it.
Why can't more TV shows do that? Just end. I've seen so many shows that are great for a season or two...then it becomes a parody of itself...until I don't notice when it's cancelled. Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Best TV show ever (if one watched the full story arc). To this day...only show I own the full 7 seasons on DVD. |

The last 5 minutes of the finale of 6FU was one of the most memorable bits of television I've ever experienced. Just amazingly creative, but at the same time I was saying "Of course--let's take these people all the way to the end."
You know what's really growing on me is HBO's new series, Big Love. I found it pretty tedious at first, but things are starting to get interesting fast. And how often do you get to see Harry Dean Stanton nowadays? |

6FU was the only series where I watched every show of every season for all the five years it was on. My wife and I caught it every week. And always waited in anticipation for the next season.
Haven't been a fast Soprano's fan, but have watched enough to follow the story over the years. This season I'm getting more into it, and usually catch it on Sunday before Big Love - which, after hanging on through a slow start, have really gotten into. My wife and I really loved 6FU,a nd missed having something to watch together on Sunday nights. Big Love is starting to fill that void. Funny footnote: I used to jam in bands with Jeanne Tripplehorn in the early 80's in Tulsa, OK, when she used to go by Jeanne Summers, and was a local FM rock radio DJ. Funny to see her now in Big Love, where she still looks good, but also very middle aged. |
