My cymbals came into contact with some dirty water from sewer backup due to heavy storms over the weekend, and I'm wondering what I ought to disinfect them with? The cymbals are fine and were in their padded carrying bag, but that soaked up some water. I want to disinfect anything that got at all wet and I've wiped most things down with Lysol type stuff, but don't want to damage my cymbals. There are all kinds of polishes out there but really I just want to make sure they're disinfected without any bad reactions.

Any suggestions? They're Zildjian A and A Customs if that makes any difference.

Mucho thanks-

welll...boiling water is a generally safe bet...probably some distilled water if you don't want to deposit minerals on them...otherwise...I'd think that whatever polish you'd use would probably go a long way...

I'm utterly baffled at the general opinion regarding smoking. I don't smoke, but it's a bar, for God's sake. That's what your supposed to expect. It's a den of iniquity where people are going to indulge in all of the minor vices and sins denied to them during their mundane workdays. You can wreck your liver, ruin your hearing, get into a fight, and pick up an STD, but somehow smoking is unacceptable? Sheesh. We've turned into a nation of entitled whiners.

Put them in the sun for an hour. Bacteria don't live in dryness and cymbals get real hot in the sun. It will kill anything, and real cheap!
