all the talk about gas prices coming down....
i ain't seeing it. i filled up last night, bought the crappy mid grade gas (my car hates anything but premium) and paid almost $3/gallon...... no luv here in utah. the state's too red, i imagine. no need to polish the masses here, they're all in their pens already. ______________________ Ralph: "My cat's breath smells like cat food." |

Here's an interesting link that tracks GAS PRICES Looks like gas is back down below diesel. Interesting. 1-Adam-12, 1-Adam-12, see the man, see the man... |

Hi All!
Here in Italy gasoline cost is very expensive! I think the most expensive in Europe. We pay about 1.37€ per liter. 1 gallon is about 4 liters. (3.79 is the right conversion) So... 1.37euros will be 5,19 euros per gallon! Today the €/US$ change is: 1 euro = 1,47Us dollars. That's why here in Italy we cry for expensive gasoline! A funny information: In Dubai, gasoline cost is only 20cents (maybe dollars, I'm not sure) for liter! I wanna live in Dubai! ----------------------------- What we do in life, echoes in the eternity. You know, I'm fortunate enough that I can afford the gas prices. It stings, no doubt, but I really don't envy those living closer to the bone. I've worked jobs before where I was just getting by prior to the rise in fuel and grocery costs. I estimate that between the two added to utility prices rising, my cost of living has gone up by about $200+/mo. I live in a modest house and drive an old Civic. There were times in my life when that would've broken me.
I've always been a fan of super high gas taxes--and pumping that money into research to find alternate fuel sources and build public transportation infrastructure. Of course, that's been converted to corporate oil profits...not the same thing. I do believe, after the dust settles, we will better our society from this, but it will be more painful since we've chosen to do it on a less than voluntary time schedule. |

I afford it by 1.)raising my hourly minimum on gigs, 2.) adding travel fees to areas I used to drive for no additional charge, 3.) minimizing/combining personal trips, and 4.) cutting the budget in other areas...insurance, food, clothing, and of course, entertainment.
I'm seriously considering moving an hour or two out of town, which in one way makes no sense, since I'd have to drive farther in for gigs. Right now, I accept the big jobs and the little ones. If my cost of living overall were less, I could probably do just fine working the few large jobs and not running all over town to make a hundred here or there. The wife is wanting to try her hand at having a few farm animals and a large garden. That change of lifestyle might make us all closer as a family, anyway. |

This is something I gleaned from a news broadcast. According to the newscast, The fuel cost are hitting the rural communities harder than either coast or major metro area. Reason!!! The median income in rural areas is $32,000 and the median income for the coast and Metro areas is $55,000 (I cannot remember the exact numbers but this close)
The current fuel costs increases are taking 15% of a rural familes budget, while the same increase is taking 4% of the Costal and Metro areas budget. Also taking into consideration the coastal and metro areas have access to mass transportation, while there is no mass transportation to rural areas. Followed with the fact that rural residents have to drive farther to almost everything. The newscast seemed to want to give the idea the rural Americans are shouldering the brunt of the latest oil crisis. I disagree, It's worth every extra dollar I spend to be able to live where I live. If it gets that bad I'll start my own still and make my own ethanol. http://running_on_alcohol.tripod.com/ We modified engines years ago to run on 100% ethanol for racing, so it could be done. I feel I would be more so burdened in the confines of a metro area. But that's just me, maybe more people will move to bigger cities and leave more room for me to roam Still Learning, One mistake at a time |

what craps me off, is that diesel used to be about 70% of the price of standard fuel.
Here in Aus diesel is now over 30c per litre more expensive than unleaded (standard) petrol. friggin oil company bastards....they are capitalising on the popularity of diesel vehicles (for all the reasons I purchased one) and there doesnt seem to be jack shit the govt can do about it. Price for diesel here is now $1.88 AUD per litre. Unleaded is around $1.58 tube - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - "the leaves, they fall....and you know you're never gonna sweep 'em all" Tim Rogers-You Am I |

No doubt, their true colors are shining through, or they're letting their freak flag fly, or their trying to rob everyone on the bus before it stops moving... However you put it...it sucks!!!!!! The Dakotas could provide enormous amounts of wind energy, yet at this very moment a foreign country is using eminent domain to further it's Huge Corporate oil company objectives on South Dakota farmers and Ranchers. While wind energy projects are stagnant with little support. WTF????? Still Learning, One mistake at a time |
