Sorry guys, I've held out as long as I can. I have to give props to my Hurricanes for such an outstanding season so far. Sorry Canada, the boys from North Cackalacky want that cup real bad. And whoever said rednecks don't dig hockey. Canes lead 2-0 in the Stanley Cup Finals after a 5-0 blowout win at home, man, this beer is tastin' better already Applaud .

I'm sorry...but I have to boo you.

*BOOO*

Sorry, but I'm pulling for Edmonton, just because they have one of my old hometown goalies...and I know that's sacriledge to say as a Wild fan, because if Edmonton wins, our first round pick that we traded Rolli for goes from 17 to 30 and the GM in Edmonton looks like some sort of goddamn genius.

Anyways, we all know it's going to be nothing but Minesota Wild all next season anyways Wink

As long as that BOOO is all in fun Cool

That's really a shame what happened to Rolli. As much as him being out may benifit the Canes, I hate that the Oilers have such a setback from the start. It takes away from the competition IMO.

Plus, I know all you Edmonton fans are going to be cryin' "It's only because Rolli was hurt" while the Canes are skating the cup around the ice Big Laugh Wink Moon

Hockey in NC? I still can't get my head around it! Smile

I grew up in Wrightsville Beach, loved the tar heels (hated Duke and State), and Hockey just never was part of that world.

I love seeing the 'Canes do well, but honestly, I just don't get hockey. I need to go to a game. I hear they're awesome events seen live.

Peace,

Fox

Yeah, it's still kinda strange for me too. It seems that, in the last couple of years, a lot of people from up north have transferred down here so I'm guessing that has a lot to do with it. Acouple of people that I used to work with were hockey guru's so what I know of the game, I learned from them. According to them, there's always been hockey fans in the area and ever since the Canes have starting doing well, fairly consistently, the fan base of the area has just errupted.

Ugh.. Man that hurt. You know... I thought, as I was clicking on the "Post Now" button, at the beginning of this thread, Maybe, just maybe, I could be jinxing myself in this moment Slap . I sure hope not. I'm prayin' that it is just destiny to skate the Cup around home ice, especially after the last Stanley Cup run.

if nothing else, this has been a hell of a hard-fought series...and I think that even as a 'Canes fan you have to give it up to Edmonton for showing a lot of grit and playing through a lot of shitty breaks to make for a good series.

Canes were shel shocked by the Oilers hard, hard aggressive play.It was textbook.

I couldn't believe how LOUD the crowd was.I'd bet they were near 120db at times.

Canes were awful except for the Goalie (Ward). He was fine and if I was Laviolette, I would have gone out of my way at the press conf to say "The ONLY guy that didn't suck for us tonight was Ward. Our guys hung him out to dry." I was saying that to myself after the game and the our flamboyent colour man on CBC, Don Cherry, said the same thing..It was pathetic...They need to bolster that kids confidence and keep the loss out of his head. He's an exceptional goalie.

Canes WILL play much harder no doubt..This could end up being a dbl OT game, easy I think.

Should be great Smile GL to both teams.

I'm getting ready to head over to the bar right next to the colliseum. If you think it was loud the other night, wait till you hear it tonight. There's been people tailgating outside of the main lot since 8:00 this morning.

As shitty as a night that the Canes had the other night, you really have to give it up to both teams in this series. Regardless of who wins, you really can't say that either team doesn't deserve it. I really can't remember a more exciting season for hockey. I havn't been a fan for too long but from what I can tell the rules changes that were made this past year have been for the positive. It seems that it has allowed for the cream to truly rise to the top and henceforth made for a more fast paced exciting game. Good luck to both teams, but you know who I'll be rootin' for come game time. Wink

Excellant game. Congratz to the Canes on a well earned win...I can only hope that all future Stanley Cup Finals are that good...I knew they'd come out a different team Smile

Man, I hope peeps in the US finally wake up and realize that this is, bar none, the hardest championship to win..As much as I love my NFL and even World Series to some extent (hate reg season), the intensity in these sports can never match the gruelling grind for the Cup....not even close....

Great job. I really dug seeing the old dude - missed his name, but they said he was at the end of his career - hoist the cup, obviously having the best moment of his life.
