Toronto is an amazing city, although I confess not having spent much time there in recent years and I only live 100 miles away. Stay downtown for sure, if you want to check out Sky Dome, CN Tower(worlds tallest structure),Parlaiment buildings,City Hall Square,Eaton Centre(big mall),Take a ferry to City Island(lake Ontario),Ontario Place(Touristy),Royal Ontario Museum,Theatre,China Town, etc etc.all in a 3 mile radius. The city core is very vibrant and safe, with a great subway system to get around. Queen Street is the main arts and fashion area(runs e/w)and there are lots of clubs and live music. It intersects Yonge St(main n/s). We do have a Hard Rock Cafe but there are zillions of bars pubs and restaurants. I'm not up on curent specifics of places to stay or eat,but I remember Chelsea INN, and Sutton place hotel are downtown, but probably not too cheap. Real luxury is the Harbour Castle (on the Water) or the Sky Dome Has a hotel attached. This info may be outdated, so maybe some one else has the skinny on hotels or the current live scene? Hope you enjoy. I'm inspired to go just thinking about it.
