go to preferences and select advanced
then import
then import using it should give you the mp3 option.
then you can control click on the song and see a option to convert to mp3.
i believe this is correct.

Tubes,

I can't help you out (I have a PC), but you might ask this same question over at one of the KVR audio forums.

I'll ask in the Tracktion forum to see if I can dig anything up.

Cheers,
Fox

The mac won't recognize wma files? Hmmm...because I just got this response to your question over at KVR's Tracktion forum:

"iTunes can do that; Go to preferences -> Advanced -> importing, and use MP3. Play your WMA in iTunes (the file must not be protected/encrypted), then right click on it and choose covert to MP3."

interesting!
it wont even drag over to import into the iTunes interface.
When downloaded it appears as a file with no associated application.

when you say "right click" I would be fairly certain you are talking to people on a PC. Mac's have only just come to the party with a standard mouse that can right click.

cheers

Hmmm...

If I remember correctly the Windows version of iTunes can import Windows Media audio files and re-save them as M4A or MP3 files (but not back the other way - basicially a not-so-subtle hint to try to get you to use iTunes to play your songs back).

If you're on a Mac and all else fails, you could always just use an Audio Hijack type app to play the file from Windows Media Player (yucky, I know) and re-record it using another app.

Realtime conversion is too much of a drag. This is the ONLY method I've seen work for .RM to .MP3, and I believe this will work for .WMA too. The Helix DNA Producer contains codecs for everything.

Disclaimer: This is not for the faint of heart. You need a couple computer skills to make this work and keep all your hair. That being said, it worked like a charm for me and now I can download all my favorite radio talk shows from the binary newsgroups and convert them to .MP3 for my iPod.

Better yet, just use this:

Unless you need .RM capability too, then use my first suggestion.
