I'm going to be buying Nuendo 4 and a new Mac computer. I want to continue recording on my Alesis HD 24 XR and then later dump the tracks via the digital I/O on the Alesis to the computer. What type of sound card will I need to do this? I'll need 2 ADAT 8 I/O sound card to dump 16 tracks at a time. How does word clock fit into the equation as well? Thanks, Greg
Although...no one else mentioned...if you're using them to transfer, you're better off using an Alesis Fireport (firepod?), I would think--the firewire add on for the Alesis recorder. I would imagine it would be faster...and certainly better sounding being a file level rather than serial digital transfer.
BTW...why are you buying Nuendo 4? Didn't they make it 9 billion dollars now and publicly say it's not for music production anymore? I can't find a lick of difference in the Cubase GUI after N2. Assuming you have some sort of competing product, you can get C4 for $400.
