Hey SFer's,

I was just wondering....anybody have one of these soundcards in there studio?
What do you do for monitoring and accessing other gear from one of these sound cards?
Just wondering as I don't have my studio with the card up and running yet.

I have worked mostly with a VS2480 and it was pretty simple with it's routing options as far as getting in and out. This new computer with the Hammerfall card was purchased mainly to run Gigastudio but I may wind up using Cubase for more than just sequencing in the future.

Thanks for any tips!

Rme uses Totalmix for the dsp line which is really
great for monitoring but has many other functions and uses. It takes up very little memory and resides on the desktop for quick access.
Routing analog signals depends on if you are using a breakout card or not but connectivity is hassle free as far as my situation. I was listening to a recording we had done on a VS2480 and a similar one with the RME card. What was really noticable was the VS2480 sound was very ragged and brittle compared to the open and smooth sound of the RME.

Hey Josan,

Thanks for the response...I should say that for recording I use a Focusrite Octapre as my A/D into the VS so I have sorta upgraded at that point. Your able to bypass the Octapre preamps by going into it's TDIF or at least that's what I was told by customer service @ Focusrite. I'm actually using the True Systems Precision 8 for preamps.

Peace Out
