When I try to record in Dp 4.5 I arm the track but i get a popup that said"you must select tap tempo and slave to exturnal sync.Before you can record to the conductor track". I do not have any midi running to Dp 4.5

What kind of track are you trying to record - audio or MIDI?

It sounds like you almost certainly had the 'conductor track' (tempo and key signature guide 'master track') selected, and hit 'record'.

Like with pretty much any DAW / sequencer, you probably just need to create a new audio or MIDI track, select it, put it into 'record', and start recording.

Yeah, the only time I've seen that message, and I have...was when the conductor track was armed but the sync was not set to tap tempo.

...MOTU is actually king of actual literal, helpful error messages, IMO.

Unlike the "An error of the type 000000x8495 mark 4 slash b-4973, column C, paragraph 36, line 22, has occurred. Continue?" messages in Logic.

It sounds like the key is to make sure the 'conductor track' is NOT armed. Was it, by chance?
