I'm using Nuendo 3 with an M-Audio Delta 1010. I have recorded basic drum tracks. When using the sends I correctly route the signal of each drum track to the effect return(Stereo) and get signal to the plug-in(compressor) assigned to the inserts of the effects return. In the Nuendo manual it stated that the signal from the send is post fader(pre-fader not selected) and after the pan, therefore all my drum tracks should be routed to the compressor and a copy of the drum image on the L/R Buss should be the same at the compressor. When I solo the kick and the effect return with the compressor plug-in I can pan the kick to the left and it will pan left, but there is still some kick slightly in the right chanel from the effect return. This happens on all the channels. When bringing up the compressor on the effects return to bring my compression into the mix, the image gets smeared slightly(image appears less wide and more mono). When I pan the kick left or right without any effect return, it is descrete across the Left/Right buss and there is no kick in the other channel. Does anyone else have this problem? Is it just an issue with the internal signal routing? Why is it doing this? Could it possibly be hardware related? Any response would be greatly appreciated.
Shot in the dark.....If I'm understanding you correctly, you're sending all of the Drums to an stereo effects track with a stereo effect, (also parallel to the original track) Therefore I believe that panning at the initial track will put the signal to the selected side of the effect track, however the Stereo effect may not be 100% discrete or may possibly interleaved the tracks and this may be what you are hearing.
What happens if you pan both the kick track and the effect track to the same side????
