Not a beta release but pre-release v1.0 of the real thing here.

Anyone who hasn't tried TritoneDigital's convolution software owes it to themselves to give it a try.

Their PhaseTone is also very good [and free].

thanks a lot for the info, bruce! i've been waiting for this one for a while, as i use hydratone, valvetone '62, and phasetone in just about every project now! i can't wait for squeezetone, too--i love my UAD compressors on tracks and groups but i need a good 2-bus comp.

< Too bad those plugs dont work in a VST wrapper with Sonar >

You need to install the Cycle '74 Pluggo Runtime host foundhere to get TritoneDigital stuff going.

Don't bother with the pay-for versions unless you want the plug-ins that come with them. All you need is Pluggo Runtime. It's free.

I have Sonar 3 Producer but it's not installed right now. I'll check it out later tonight but should work with Pluggo installed.

All I can say is, WOW!! I'm already impressed after about 5 seconds of use.... I've got some small stereo guitar clips I made using the Voxengo Boogex, and I used different models on the ColorTone for the right and left side and the sound "pops" out of the speakers now. I can't wait to experiment with this on full mixes.

Unfortunately, I haven't had the resources to buy any of the other plugins from TritoneDigital, but I plan on it sometime hopefully in the near future. Their plugins sound incredible... Their interfaces could use some work, but based on the sound I think they put their time and effort in the right places! Waytogo

* Edit * After reading the other threads there, I see that I just downloaded the "free" version for the PC. I guess there's no pro version available yet for the PC. Frown

Thanks for the link. Looks very interesting, and I picked up the phase plug too to check it out.

We'll see how it sounds.

Yeah, some people have tried bothering them into improving plug appearance and all but these are recording guys and don't seem interested in equating form with function.

If you haven't already done it, download the ParEQ3 mentioned in the free eq thread. It's only 3 bands and you may say that 3 is not enough, but this is 3 GREAT bands of eq, on par with Algorythmix stuff and won't be available much longer. You will, however, be able to purchase the 10 band version for a thousand bucks.

This is no ordinary free eq schmucko plug-in.

Yes, they might not ever come out with 'pro version' for PC, but the free version is still not too bad. Their interfaces on 'pay for' plugs recieve a lot of flack as well.

I have it downloaded, but I haven't fired it up yet.

And you can also use multiple instances of the plugin for more bands if need be.

I think I have more stuff that I need to get first (like "good" preamps) before I spend that much on an EQ plugin. Plus the Hydratone is much (much) less than that... So I'd definitely get the Hydratone before that one.

That's what I read on their forums, that really sucks. Frown I've been hearing aobut this one for a long time and now it may not even come out....

I would certainly think they would get more business from the PC side than MAC since there are more people using PCs.... But I guess they have their preference.

Since you brought the EQ plugin back to my attention again I just went and tried out and man I thought the Tritone Digital plugs needed interface work..... Geesh! This thing is almost a nightmare to work with.... Unless I'm missing something very important somewhere.

There is no mousewheel support, no sliders, and you have to manually type in the Q values. The arrow keys don't even work while you're typing in values so you can move to the next digit by using the mouse to get the cursor just in the right spot. The delete key doesn't work, so you have to be directly behind the number you want to change with the back space. The sound is really great though, it is just a pain to work with. I definitely wouldn't ever buy the $1,000 version with that kind of user unfriendly interface.... I can't imagine going through all that with 10 bands. Eek

Why is it that a lot of these really great sounding plugins have horrid interfaces? Isn't mousewheel support a pretty standardized feature? Or at least put a slider in there so you can "gradually" change the Q while you listen. Wink

I'm all for great sound and everything, but usability plays an important roll as well.... Especially when you're on a deadline to finish a project.

I don't think I've got everything figured out with this PLParEQ either but I love what it's done to a couple of things it's been used on. I don't have $1000 to spend on a plug-in anyhow.

Tobben liked it and was mentioning something about linear mode and phase something or other mode over on the secret Samp board.

I have Sonalksis and HydraTone and like them but have really been enjoying this one.

I really like what it has done also, and when used in addition with the ColorTone the sound is just awesome! I actually tried both plugs on a two track mixdown that I had previously done and I was very impressed with the new sound using these two plugins for mastering (if you can call what I do "mastering!" lol)

Yeah, I remember something like that too, I guess I'll have to go read the thread again now that I've actually used the plugin. Big Grin

They're up to v1.85 now. They seem to post at least one update daily and for a while there were doing several a day.

I just keep downloading the latest version so that I'll have the most recent when they shut off access to the free plug-in.

Has anyone been able to get this to work with Vegas?

I downloaded the Pluggo Runtime app, loaded the ColorTone dll into that folder, and unzipped everything, but Vegas doesn't see the Pluggo folder as a place where plugs are stored....

EDIT: Nevermind....just gotta be smarter than the software...or at least smarter than the directory structure. Carry on!

What you've just typed is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever seen. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this forum is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I've been using colortone free more and more and I love it! The "add drum depth" preset, or whatever it is called (the one that drives the FF8 hard) is incredible for adding some dimension to a track. I really hope colortone pro will be released for the pc! I hate to bug them with email requests for this, but I wonder if there's anything else to do to get them to release this for pc.

You could post on their forum. There has been a lot of requests for it, so hopefully they will do it. Cool
