I just bought a unitor8 mkII and am trying to use the triton and roland jv2080 sound module with it. I setup the triton's midi out and midi in on the unitor's midi in1 and mid out1 and the jv2080's midi out and midi in on the unitor's midi in2 and mid out2. From what I read, if I am not in a computer sequencing program (such as Logic), I will be in patch mode.
I cannot hear sounds from the triton when I hit the keys. I have Local control off on the triton, and when I turn it 'on', I hear sounds. Isn't the unitor8 suppose to send the midi back to the triton? The midi in 1 light of the unitor8 comes on as soon as the triton goes on. It isn't flashing, but it is kind of dimmed. To me, that suggests that midi data is coming into the unitor8 from the triton. I checked everything I could think of on the triton and that light stays on. Is this an error? Do I got a faulty NEW unitor8 BTW, I am on a PC and have downloaded the latest drivers from emagic's/apple's ftp area. Pro Tools LE 6.4, AMD 2200+ running Win. quote: And what does it say patch mode does? Are there flashing indicator lights on the front that let you know where the data's coming from and going to? With no computer on, my MOTU MIDIExpress acts as a patchbay, but you have to change to various preset patch schemes via the front panel....and to create a custom one, you have to turn the computer on. Does it all function correctly WITH the computer/sequencer on? |

Patch mode is similar to the MOTU, it is suppose to act like a patchbay. The problem is it isn't. You change the preset patches via a program.
In reply to, "Does it all function correctly WITH the computer/sequencer on?" It doesn't function with the sequencer on either. When I press the keys on the triton, the midi out 1 and midi in 1 light do blink, but no sound. Pro Tools LE 6.4, AMD 2200+ running Win. hmmmmmm, if both the midi out and midi in lights on the interface are blinking, it sounds like it is passing data.......you might check the tritons midi in settings. Make sure it is set to recieve midi from the midi in port and not using the USB as it's midi interface. also check to see if it is recieving on a midi channel that is assigned a patch in the Triton.

In reply to, "you might check the tritons midi in settings. Make sure it is set to recieve midi from the midi in port", the midi channel is set to 1 and the triton is set to receive midi.
I think it has something to do with the midi clock, because when I rotate the tempo button on the triton, the 'midi in 1' light on the unitor blinks faster! Pro Tools LE 6.4, AMD 2200+ running Win.
