I never heard of these before. They look cool. Anyone here have one? What do you think? Would it be better off getting something else if your were looking to buy within that pricerange? (Not that I can get anything close to that pricerange right now...Frown
I've seen that they are getting quite a few articles written about them.
I read that Roland U.S.recently bought 5 of the livebooks to use in edirol product clinics
And I also found out that Roland U.S. took over edirol sales, marketing, and support in Nov. 2005. I didn't know that.

Ummmm.....my Dell 9300 has more ports (6 USB, 1 firewire, etc), the same processor PM 740 1.73ghz, 1GB DDR400 533mhz RAM, Nvidia 256mb graphics card, 60gb 7200 rpm HD, DVDRW/ CDRW, 17" screen. It runs like a freakin' dream for mobile recording and has some good power for editing and VST's. I got it for $1500 before tax.

So...at near $2300 for fewer specs, I don't see that as being a good deal. If you search, you can find a great recording laptop for less than that. I saw rainsong a long time ago when I was shopping. As you can see, they priced themselves out of my choice list for their feature set.

Just my thoughts. If you want the best value with tons of options for a true turn-key system. Look here instead www.adkproaudio.com

Good luck!

damn, those laptops are a huge rip off...
i mean i just got a laptop 2 weeks ago that a paid just about half for and it can rip that livebook wide open
my hp has:
AMD Turion64 ML-40(2.2gig)
17inch widescreen 1680x1050
1gig of ram (pc400)
DVD DL-RW
wireless 54G nic with bluetooth
2 80gig Harddrive (5400rpm)
128mb ati Radeon
4 usb2, 2 firewire etc...
this thing cost me $1300 off ebay and it would only be $1580 direct from HP...

to get a live book to match my laptop would cost 3,359.65 LMFAO

everything they sell is overpriced like hell... they have "Stormdrive" thats usb2/firewire 300gig and 449.99 WOW
i just got a 500Gig drive yesterday from compusa b/c my lacie is full and it was only $370. is also firewire/usb2 and it a maxtor. i could've bought a firewire/usb2 case for $40 and got the drive itself for$250 and saved money..
do yourself a favor a forget that rain website. compusa has high prices vs fry's and microcenter and you could walk in any of those stores and leave with a laptop better than the rain for under $1600

I'll give props to that HP. I was helping a buddy buy a laptop and I stumbled across that thing on sale at Circuit City for $1200 and I went DAAAAYYYYUUUUMMMMMMMmm. I mean, that's a lot of machine for a teenie price. Save yourself some dough and some heartache, either go the HP route like he mentioned or something similar.
