The analog outs of my Layla 24 are set to +4db. When I connect a Behringer ADA8000 to the ADAT out of that soundcard, the levels are significantly lower which requires a boost on the trim knobs of those mixer channels. At one point I learned that the cause of this is that the ADAT output of the Layla is -10db, and the Behringer is just passing that straight through, hence the difference, so it's not a caused by a setting on the ADA8000 (and I don't think the ADA8000 has a +4/-10 db switch on it).
Anyway, this level difference is a real pain and makes any sort of accurate recall very unlikely when I'm patching those channels in or out of the mixer, because I can't reset the trim knob accurately each time, etc.
Do most other soundcards have ADAT lightpipe output set to +4 db? If I'm right about the layla output being the problem hopefully most soundcards are not the same way right?
Does anyone here use an ADA8000 with a certain brand soundcard and have equal output level between the analog outs of the souncard and the ADA8000?
Next time around I'm thinking about getting a Frontier Tango, (which does have that +4/-10 db switch), but would I have the same problem with the output level being different? Maybe I should get a different soundcard first, hmm.

Yes, I encountered what you describe with a Layla 24 and ADA8000. I recently replaced the Layla with an RME Multiface-2 and the levels are now essentially the same into the analog mixer.
