Thanks for any suggestions! I'm using Samp 7 for recording vocals only. While recording I'm watching the meters on the individual channel and nothing is entering the red and the meter on my pre isn't showing much red either, however, while playing back, the vocal is distorting at times and where the wave meets the level line it is flattening out. (That probably doesn't make sense) It's like the input is hitting the ceiling, but on the channel in Samp. Is there any way to "raise the celing" of the recorded signal?

I don't think Samplitude is doing it. You might check your converters.

If you are a licensed user than the Samplitude user forum might be of some help.

Jeff,

Thanks for the interetst. Actually, no not really, I'm just backing my levels way down. Which is what I probably should have been doing all along anyway. Thanks for offer of help. I may call on you again since I'm still pretty new at Sam.

What AD converter are you useing? If it is calibrated hot it can cause what you are talking about. Back your signal off like you said.

I've got a copy of samplitude V6 (2496)on a used computer I bought and I'm trying to find a copy of the users manual. I'd be happy to pay for a copy if you have one. Thanks

I have a copy of 8 I could send you. The manuals are pretty bad but you are welcome to it. Shoot me your info to KRStudio@aol.com. Feel free to ask any questions also.

I've been trying to use some free directx plug in that I downloaded but my v6 copy of samplitude either dosent recognize them or they just freeze up. Also I've heard about a program called amulet ...some sort of an adapter for samp to use 3rd party dx ...any suggestions?

I don't really remember v6 but with v7 and on you must direct Samplitude to the VST folder - usually C: Program Files> Steinberg> VST Plugins.

Look along the top of your screen and click Options. Then click on System Audio and look around by clicking on everything. In v8 there was a folder with the words 'Skins' (as well as others) that would give the option to browse for VST folder. I'm not sure if v6 used DX plugs but I know that v7 did so there should be something similar in there.
