Hi gang,

Just wondering if there are any Sampletank users here. If so --

Sounds - Yay or Eh?
Ease of use with DP?
Ease of importing wave files and other sounds?

Thanks in advance for any input.

I've tried sampletank - not my cup of tea. But just try it, may suit you. I didn't like the interface and I think it hogs resources - IMO it's not programmed very well, but there are probably tons of people who think otherwise.

Steve,
Did you end up getting sampletank or did you get something else? I'm also looking for a program that would have ease of importing wav. and aiff files.

Hmmm...50/50
Paulie likes it, but Zygon doesn't.

Zygon any other recommendations?
thanks,

If you really want to shop around, another good place to ask would be KVRaudio's sampling forum: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=42

Good luck.

Also, if you can download the demo versions, that's often helpful. Or find a free sampler, and use it till it "cracks" beneath the weight of your needs....then you'll have defined your parameters more clearly and you will have learned how you like to work.

just a couple ideas....
Good luck.
[edit: sorry, i meant to include this in my original post! Red Face]

UPDATE:

I bought SampleTank.

I haven't installed it yet, due to having no electricity to run my studio since Hurricane Fred's Wife came to visit Florida.

I'm only able to use my internet computer on generator power.

Did you know it takes almost an hour to boil water with a can of sterno?

SampleTank is cool. Sooner or later I'll use software synths exclusively. OK, I'm lying.

Update #2:

I spent 5 hours trying to get Sampletank 2L to work - crash, crash, lockup, lockup, crash.

Tech support says to allocate more memory to DP, so when I get some time later this week, I'll try that.

I use SampleTank 2 a lot, and although some of the sounds are mediocre, some are very usable.

Its greatest strength, IMHO, is the low CPU and convenience. The fact that you have all that you need to work out s song very quickly.

Also, Squids at KVR is a very helpful guy.
