I am interested in buying the MOTU 24 I/O Core system. The unit comes with the PCI-424 card and Audiodesk Workstation software. Is this a lite version of Digital Performer or a totally different software? I would also be greatful if anyone has real experience with the unit and could give an opinion on the quality of AD/DA and over all assessment.

Thanks!! Greg

From Website:
The 24I/O can be purchased as an expander for an existing PCI-424-based MOTU Audio System, or as a core system which includes the PCI-424 card and Audiodesk workstation software.

I have the 1224, and 2408 mkii so can't comment on the 24io. But from what I hear its not a bad unit.
Audiodesk is the lite v of DP- no MIDI and limited audio capabilities. You do get the stock plugs.
dont' know how much the 24io core system is going for, but you may be able to get it 2nd pretty cheap.

Thanks very much Tonio.
Are you happy with the 1224 and 2408 mkii ?
Do you use DP ?

The Core system new is around $1450 used I've seen them for about $1000. I am new to the Computer DAW scene... The 24 i/o caught my attention. I have not read anything bad about it except from a veryu frustrated PC user.
Still on the fence....any suggestions?

THANKS!!!!!

I've used the 24 i/o for tracking in the studio I do big tracking at. I have, but almost no longer use, the 1224 and 2408mkII. I'm using Metric Halo stuff now. No knock on Motu, I dig them. I also use DP and like it. I had no problems with the 24 i/o. Like most other replies here, I don't use it enough to give a solid answer. No problems. Seemed fine.

All the best,

Thanks!

I did order the 24 i/o with the new PCIe-424 card today. I plan on running with DP & Mac G5 set up. Hope the learning curve is not too steep.

Peace...ghiA
