Yeah, I've used it a couple times. I was quite impressed. I was recording both audio and midi tracks (with VSTs) in no time. It was both functional and easy to navigate. Plus you can download color schemes, or make your own which I found pretty cool.
I ended up going back to Sonar because that's what I'm familiar with, but if Reaper was available back when I purchased Sonar, I definitely would've gone that route. Good luck. |

I've pretty much committed to using Reaper as my primary DAW. The development of this app is nothing short of jaw-dropping, the support is better than anyone could hope for and the user forum is the most helpful of any I've ever experienced. Reaper is intuitive and easy on the surface but is extraordinarily deep and complex as well. The routing possibilites go beyond ANYTHING currently available. Big things are in the works for this product and I'd suggest checking it out if you're curious. Its PC right now but there's a beta version for the mac which will be fully featured in the fall I believe. And no, I'm not an employee nor do I have any connection with Reaper other than I'm impressed with the product and most of all, very impressed with the ethics of the developer and his company. Check it out here: http://reaper.fm/index.php

Yeah I've been digging it lately. If you use a UAD-1 it's definitely worth a look.

I've messed with it, and if I wasn't already familiar with my current setup - as well as having to learn more on Logic - I'd also prolly be exploring this more. It's efficient CPU usage is off the hook! I'll play with it more once I have some time. |

I saw a video of the developer, Justin Frankel, giving a Reaper demonstration at a "mixing in the box" symposium in San Francisco recently which included recording some live guitar performance, overdubbing, punching on the fly and all sorts of efx examples. He concluded his presentation by pulling a USB memory stick out the laptop and showed the audience that the entire demo had been done from the stick. So if you want to move from studio to studio, just take your data drive and your memory stick and you're good to go - no hassles with compatibility or dipshit dongles, etc. Amazing!

My first impression was it reminded me of Vegas which i used for a while until I switched to Samplitude. I wont have the time to do a full project with it but I might mess around with it for some of the demo stuff. I haven't figured out how to get it over my two screens or if the mixer detaches but not a biggy. The routing is what interests me alot as working with outboard equipment
it's nice to have alot of possibilities. One neat thing is the software reverbs ring out after you turn off the transport. I missed that as outboard reverbs do this and Samp doesn't. Real time effects monitoring is plus well further studies await. |

To drag it to two or three or however many screens (I've been playing with that doubledesktop app
To undock the mixer just right click the mixer and uncheck the "dock mixer" checkmark |

I think if Reaper keeps going the way it has been, I may one day be dumping Samplitude for it. I've used a lot of software, and so far Reaper looks like the only thing that could one day tear me away from Samp.
The support is amazing and updates DON'T take 3, 4, 5, 6 months to get released. They get released by the DAY! I've definitely got a close eye on this program.
Which version are you using? Samp 9 does if you're using the hybrid (low latency) engine this. -tkr ______________________________ 'Cause I don't wanna read the book, I'll watch the movie. http://www.freewebs.com/tekker http://tekker.dmusic.com |

I'm still with 7.2 with Samp and debating the upgrade as I prefer spending my money on tangible things such as outboard gear and mics. One reason I won't upgrade yet to Samp 9 is the lack of control surface support as I want to make a custom control surface. From the samp forums I get the idea that the development is not where it should be.
