You may have better luck over at the Logic forum. I know a bunch of guys over there use BFD.

You have to go through the preference menus that you can expand from the right-hand side of the BFD graphic interface. One of the preference menus has settings for how the MIDI drum grooves start and stop when you start and stop the song, whether the loops are triggered by MIDI notes, whether starting one loop stops the one that was previously playing or starts layering the new pattern on top of the old one, etc.
You also have to click on the drop-down 'pattern' interface at the top of the BFD window and make sure that you've dragged patterns from the lists on the left and right into the grid of 'A' patterns, 'B' patterns, and fills, or there won't be any patterns loaded for BFD to trigger for ya... ....................................... When you're trying to get to the 'grooves', are you wanting to play them back from MIDI notes, or have them automatically play whenever your Logic 'transport' is rolling?

Good question - I cannot even see the preference menu, so need to re-install.
Essentially, though, I thought the grooves should play once LE is rolling. |

If you were able to get drum sounds out of the plugin at all, the installation was probably find and you don't likely need to reinstall. The 'preference menu' would be those symbols along the right edge of the BFD window that open different pop-up (pop-out?) menus. ....................................... Thanks Chris.
OK - have successfully re-installed BFD onto my iBook - the drum kits are there - able to load up, and 'test' in the top window of BFD. Good. I am however struggling to link as a 'plug in' to Logic Express - despite trying to follow Apple's instructions. Two key issues: I think I've loaded it up (via Rewire [?] - it shows as BFD #RWD in the Mixer?), but I can see MIDI going In from the (Edirol) MIDI keyboard, but not Out - so I don't know if it's playing or not. Also how to load a BFD groove into LE - ha d ago, but..... Sorry to be 'high maintenance', but if any of you have any step by step ideas - that would be great . Many thanks, Rob |

Can't you just use it as an Audio Units plugin right in Logic, without having to resort to ReWire?
You should have some BFD 'components' installed on your system drive, BFDall.component, BFDstereo.component, BFDgroups.component, and BFDultra.component. These should be living in MacintoshHD (or whatever your root/system drive is named) -> Library>Audio>Plug-Ins>Components... .......................................
