Dual processors, fellas.
Does a Dual 2.8GHz Xeon give me a 5.6GHZ monster? Cool

Better, it gives you a DUAL 2.8ghz machine. Smile

You get 2 FSB's and the processors can both process information at the same time giving you a lot of frickin' juice.

I'm not sure if Xeon's are all that great with DAW's... You might want to research that.

No. You'll get about 1.5 times the power if everything (apps/OS) is optimatized for it.

If it's not, you'll just get better multitasking.

Rather than correct that...optimatized...that rules. I'll be president yet.

How do you only get 1.5? It seems to me like having 2 processor caches, 2 fsb's, and so on would lend twice the juice... OR MORE. Not less.

I assume hyperthreading only improves multitasking... but I really can't see why dual processors are only 1.5 times better than just one.

Thanx for all the responses, fellas. I think I'll stick with the single processors for now. Wink
