hey guys,

just came up with this from the Hercules website regarding their 1612 firewire interface, and was wondering if anyone could tell me some stuff about them, especially in comparison with higher end stuff..

"the DA converter is Cirurs logic CS4382, the AD converters are Analog Devices AD1871"

thanks in advance!

sure thing...here's a link and a review from sound on sound.

i had not heard from it either until a while ago. i was interested, thought it was a good deal for 440 euros, but couldnt bring myself to get it for that price (200 more would get me a multiface). seems they're not selling so now they're going for 250 euros. silly price if the reviews are accurate...i'm getting one in a week or so.

they get a great review on sound on sound (on par with edirol lattest stuff - they state that its sonic quality is equal to the UA-101 (on the UA review, not on Hercules review).

i dunno if u can daisychain 2 of these together..but it would be 16 tracks for 500 euros. again..silly. Juggle

any idea on the converters?

Man, that looks like a real good deal. If I had a firewire interface on my laptop I'd sell my edirol ua-25 and get one of these.

Let us know how you like it.

once you find a solid driver for it, it's tits and grease, pretty much. the converters sound great, the mic pres are REALLY good for an interface, it's really cool.
