Hi!
anyone using a Motu 8 pre with Sonar out there? - I'm just a home studio wanting to upgrade from two channel to eight on a limited budget (aah!) so any comments would be welcomed. |

8 Ch preamp budget upgrades usually bring out: Onyx 800R's,various Presnous models, and True Systems Precision 8. The latter doesn't include digi outs though and is more $$, but still good value for 8 chs..
If I was really looking bang for buck for an 8ch pre, I'd go for the 800R. |

If you go to the Sonar forum, there are plenty of users using the 8pre with no issues.
I'm interested in it too as I bought an 003 a while back and I'm just tired of the limitations in PTLE. problem is that the 003 loses functionality when only in asio mode. I recently heard some recordings done with the 8pre's and I was rather blown away. someone posted it on gearslutz as a sample of the peluso 47 mic that was recorded through an 8pre. Listening to the quality of the recording, I thought for sure it was recorded through something much more high end like a neve, ssl, etc. When I found out his chain was simply the peluso 2247 through an 8pre, I was rather surprised but much more interested in getting the interface. I've thought about getting the new 828mk3 but I'm not sure if I want to shell out a few hundred more for it. anyway, if I decide to pick one up, I'll keep you posted. If I can find the link for the recordings I heard, I'll post it here... -rich edit: here's the link. It's towards the end of this page... http://www.gearslutz.com/board/low-end-theory/181182-an...eluso-22-47-a-2.html http://www.gearslutz.com/board/low-end-theory/181182-an...eluso-22-47-a-2.html |
