We currently have an older Infopop interface - which I actually think I like better than the newer one. Not sure, though.

You can preview the new interface temporarily by clicking Show Me 3.0 on My Site. You can surf around and post on Studio Forums on that interface if you want. If you want to get back to the regular interface, just close your brower and then reopen your browser.

The Sound On Sound Forums use the newer Infopop 3 interface.

Have a look and see what you think. I'd be interested in any feedback on whether to stay with the older 2 interface, or start using the newer 3 interface.

What I kinda' don't like are the building/city icons and the house icons for the forums. But we could change those.

The drop down windows on "New", "Find", "My Space", "Notify"... are kind of weird. On my Mac with IE 5.2 they kind of just appear in the middle of the screen.

I like, I like it... a lot.

I like the search popups and the way when you post you get a popup instead of another page... sooo much cooler...

BUT, default is uglier than the other one (I think). But I like how it works better. And thats what matters, right?

I'm with dusty. Based on a quick breeze through, I like the functionality of the newer interface.

Would like to see the houses changed though I'm stumped for suggestions.

Just my opinion

I'm currently working in the new setup. At first I didn't really care for it, but after using it for a bit, I think it'll work. It will take some getting use to, but this dog ain't too old to learn new tricks! Eek

I get a popup when I hit reply instead of it taking me to another page. I also get a little floaty-dilly when I click "search"... pretty slick.

Well I guess I'll have to be the voice of opposition. I don't like the new look. I don't like that replies and such pop up in different windows--it jumbles up my browser window. I also have very, very bad eyesight and I find the new look visually very difficult to see. Especially if I don't have my "special" (wholly uncomfortable) contact lens in, it's just a jumble of mush to me and I can barely make my way around at all...this isn't the case with the old interface, which has more seperation between boxes, lines, windows, etc. and is easier to see at a glance for me. I hate in the new version that clicking on functions at the top of the page overlays a menu on top of text--it's a jumble and I can't read a thing, contacts or not. The buttons next to the threads and in the reply window are small enough that I have a hard time clicking them with the trackpad on my laptop without hitting the wrong one a couple times.

I'm having a hard time with this new interface. The appearance and some elements of navigation would have to change significantly for me to be able to use it nearly as easily as I can now with the old version. There are also some other niggling things that I prefer about the old look...but it looks like I'm well outvoted...I'm going to copy and paste this message back to the old interface, because I can't honestly figure out how to post this message in this new version window...is there a button or command I don't see??

At any rate, I guess it's not fair for me to think everyone who likes the new version should stay using the old version just because I'm visually impaired, and because I can use it more smoothly and quickly, but I'd like the old look to stay. I say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

OK I wasn't thinking about popups in the sense Dusty is talking about. I don't mind that stuff.

Maybe the houses could become little reels of tape? Hard drives just wouldn't look as good.

Well, Dusty, you ain't beat yet.

I still think the older one is a lot easier on the eyes. And I've also never lacked for any functions on the older one. Most of the recording forums out there have way less goodies than even the older one here.

I think the GCI of the older is classy, and the overall way the entire interface moves is elegant.
