The new generation of Joemeek are coming to Studio Forums and could be sitting in your studio!

We've worked out some arrangements with Alan Hyatt and PMI Audio to have some of the new hot-off-the-press Joemeek units up for grabs here.

Timeline on the Meek prizes will be just after the first of the year 2004.

Well that is pretty cool. I don't own any Joe Meek, but I've heard good things.

I promise to look at the JOE MEEK name here a lot that month. And I'm sure there will be threads about the gear in question, I actually was informed in the ADK thread. Pretty cool.

So good call, Joe. Smile

Sounds good!

I have a friend who has a JoeMeek MQ1 & loved it. He used it for both recording voiceovers for radio and guitars for his compositions. He did have some interference issues, though (This is the little unit they designed to fit into the drive bay of a computer).

I see on their website that they're redesigning it. Hope they figure out the noise thing - if they do, I'll be one of the first to buy it!

I don't got Meek either.
I sure would like one of their stereo compressors though.
So they're fixing the MQ1 eh? I would have little use for it since I use the 2480. I'm sure the preamp in the MQ1 is far superior to the Roland's pres though.

Alan and his crew are developing a reputation for getting good gear out there at a fair price.

And from what I hear, their customer service is exceptional-I haven't had to use it for my C1, but those that have had problems have said that PMI bends over backwards to fix issues.

I'm looking forward to the Stephen Paul mic. I would think that the combination of Alan and Stephen will turn out a winner...

jslator is somewhat of a Joe Meek afficionado. You might get with him on your mutual interest.

I've read allot of good things about the Meek gear. I have a C1 and a pair of C4's. Love them both. I'd love to hear some of the Meek gearlive in action. Just for a listen, are there any pro recordings that use the Meek?

I've been using a Meek VC3 "Pro Channel" and a C2 stereo comp for some time now.

The VC3 is the nicest sounding preamp on my Beyer M260DX ribbon mic. Present and gutsy with plenty of gain. I also find the VC3 great on many bass guitars.

The C2 has been used sucessfully on guitars, drums (parallel buss compression), and bgv's.

It's good stuff.

Time will tell all, but the new designs on the new Meek is light years ahead of the old product.

What is interesting is the new Meek, can sound exactly like the old stuff, but the old stuff can not sound anything like the new Meek can sound.

Production is on the way, and we look forward to giving some away here on the forum...

Hey Alan, nice to see you here. I'm glad to hear you kept the new Meek stuff true to what the old stuff sounded like, but I am really glad you'll be fixing the stupid mistakes some of the units exhibited.

For instance, my VC3 is weirdly out of phase with my other preamps, and when I run two mics on a guitar cabinet I like to put one thru my Peavey VMP and one thru the VC3, but I have to reverse phase on the VC3!!! If I switch to the other channel of the VMP -- the problem doesn't exist, so I know it's the VC3.

I know it's probably easy to fix, but it's easier to just flip the phase than solder.

I'm not tryng to be a smart-ass, but that's one of the reasons for having the phase switch.

And if it's really bugging you, couldn't you just reverse the switch without having to whip out the soldering iron?

Alan,

By any chance, could there possibly be a 2 channel paramteric EQ in store for the new Joemeek line?
