Soon, there will be an entire album of songs with vocals generated by a computer with no-one actually playing any instruments or singing!

The demo is pretty impressive with the background harmonies being the vocaloid.

I knew it was only a matter of time.

The "Little Bird" demo was pretty good...for Bgv's anyhow.

I think the sample I heard was in Japanese. WHich is fine, but I have no idea what "it" was singing.

I really don't see any need for this. Are they trying to put the lady who does the voice on the telephone out of work? It's cool that it can be done. That's not enough for me think it Should be done.

I was thinking about this last night, while for some reason I couldn't change the channel on TV. I was watching SNL, And Britney couldn't lipsynch and dance at the same time. I was almost convinced she was singing from the 1/2 dozen other "performances" I've seen her do. But this was BAD. Like Godzilla BAD.

An example perhaps of Performance choices that must be made I guess. Who on earth could jump around that much and sing. Besides Ted Nugent.

My point being the studio is the studio, the performance is the spectacle. For some. Nothing new in some respects. Just that now the session guy is a computer guy, instead of Glenn Campbell.

Scary. Like Blade Runner Scary

Sorry, if I sound rude. I am just trying to make sure every one is playing fair around here.

Oop I...couldn't resist. Slap2 Thanks I needed that.

More seriously Roll Eyes with all the Devo songs being changed for TV spots lately. Maybe a bastardized version of Mongoloid to sell this thing. It could really bring home the bacon.

I'm suprised it took so long, I remember there was a program for the Apple IIc my family used to have in like 1986. It sounded like Stephen Hawkin though, but that was running on a computer with 128Kb(0.12mb) of memory. I always wondered why they didn't use this technology in videogames early on.

Just heard the demo.... I'm not impressed - the BGs sound warbly, nasally, and over-chorused....

But I'm sure this vocaloid stuff will become as overused as the Autotune.... and record companies will use it as even more of an excuse to put out talentless shit a la Britney!

I guess mics and preamps will be rendered useless and soon be obsolete. What kind of gear lust are we gonna have then?
