Wow, I was hoping Studio Forums would take off, but I didn't expect so many people to come here. 70 people all at once on a little audio-recording BBS that's not even a year old is.... a lot of people. Waytogo

Wow, burst his bubble, will ya?
Actually, I fit into that category myself. I don't have the internet at home, and so can only access this board during work hours. I get paid handsomely for posting throughout the day. (I shouldn't boast too loudly re this, or it could come back on me.)

I feel like I am engraved in Studio Forums history since I happened to be online in your snapshot....

Nothing to brag about but I can say I was there back when... and I am slightly less ingnorant than I was before.

I appreciate your attitude both here and elsewhere I've read your posts, Dan. Your entire approach to web stuff has been informative and helpful - very refreshing in comparison to some of the crusty old nasty assed people you come across on some audio boards. Not to mention the downright evil attacking types who seem to hover just for a chance to spew vomit.

Bottom line, I'll move this forum to the top of my daily reading lists.

On Sept 1st, when we started the giveaways, there were 335 members. We passed 535 a day or so ago. And as of now we have 541 members. Over 200 people have registered in less than 2 months.

I'm not as glad to see that SF is growing, as I'm glad to see it's growing well. We're getting just the kind of crowd in here that I was hoping for - and the signal-to-noise ratio is very high.

Actually, in the newletter I sent out a few days ago, I messed up the one-year birthday of SF by saying it was Dec 23rd. It's not. That's the date I registered the domain name. SF will have its first birthday on January 6th, 2004.

No surprise really, it's a great place to hang. I try to check in a couple of times a day to see what's up. Just wish I had more to contribute.

I'm having some definite fun here with some light hearted debates with a few people (I love to debate/argue about this stuff).

This board and the Gearslutz board are my two favorites now. I mostly just lurk at Gearslutz and learn about new gear (probably a bad idea for my checkbook).

The incentive to get free gear here has me actually participating again on a message board, and I'm having fun with it again. I used to like the Cubase Forums and Nuendo Forums, but they are too overcrowded and have gone down the toilet. The Recpit forums also have gone down the toilet in my opinion. Gearslutz is not too busy yet and the moderators keep it under control. This place is like Gearslutz, but has some younger guys asking questions that I feel I can help out with, so it's my new hangout.

How many more posts do I need to qualify now?

There are many recording forums not on the web, as well as the old Usenet newsgroups. This board is very good and has a lot of promise.

I don't think that is it at all. Besides, the odds aren't good enough to attract that many more people. I like what is said (as well as what is NOT said) around here. The experienced talk - the inexperienced listen and learn. People don't seem to play games here either. It's just straight ahead studio shop talk.
I like it.

I think the giveaways helped get people here. It's also a nice place to come and talk about recording.

Now, if only I could win something.
