That thing looks interesting.
I hadn't even heard of it. I just had a look around the Joemeek site. The SDC's look interesting as well. -Dusty |

I wonder where it stands when compared to the Studio Projects line. Is it a complete departure in design or a sort of variation on one of their existing mics?

Cool Beans!
Thanks Alan and Dot for the Joe Meek giveways. Since we have had Meekrophones before could this be a Meek-a-way? A man is no fool who gives up that which he can not keep to gain that which he can not lose. |

Here are some of your answers...
The Joemeek mics are a world apart from the Studio Projects mics. Both the JM47 LD and JM27 SD are transformer designs, so they are colored, warm and have great air. They compliment the SP mikes nicely, but they are different. We have used them alot, and IMHO, I like the JM47 better than the MXLV67 buy a long shot, and the JM27 SD's are kick ass for the money. Now this is my opinion, but we do use them in our studio and we did a good deal of testing and A/B tracks. Joemeek always had mics, but they needed help, so we gave the mic help and a new look. Who ever wins this baby will be a happy camper. We sent off the threeQ a couple of days ago so congalocke is going to be a happy camper. Remember congalocke, a little compression goes a long way, and set your attack to full counter clockwise or its slowest position... Start there, then speed up the attack to get the punch you need. Anyway, I hope another will win the mic. It is quite good. We will produce a multi-pattern and a tube as well. The new JM27PAC is coming in four weeks. That is factory matched pairs of JM27's with really cool shock mounts and a stereo T-Bar. We will also have the new JM472 Combo PAC. This is a JM47 and JM27 with clips in a case.... Lots coming from us over the next 6 months. New esoteric Cables, more Toft Audio, more Joemeek, More SP Mikes, and yes, the Stephen Paul mic... So check out the new Joemeek mics....they are worth checking out. Again, my opinion....TIFWIW! Alan, I look forward to trying out the pre...easy on the compression.
If a Stephen Paul Mic goes up on the Studio Forums block...OMG!!!!! Your saying those esoteric cables are pretty good huh?? I look forward to picking up a couple and checking them out! We'll call this No. 174. Hey, gues that means I'll be first kyu when I win right? "Beware the propaganda." Grungelord has spoken. |

quote: The cables are a LITZ design, so it is a quad cable but two of the strands are solid core copper. The results is quite good. We could hear the difference on the same track even after converting them to MP3's! We are very high on this new cable, and what they do for our T3 and TB1 is amazing. We make a 7pin XLR for all the tube mics that use a 7pin for the power supply. It make a huge difference... As ever, Alan & Co. make it mighty hard for a fella to be on a gear buying moratorium. Those 27 SD's sound like they'd compliment my C4's quite nicely. And a T-bar!! That would come in very handy indeed.

Those SD's look familiar. Are they an off the shelf design with extra QC or are they custom made?

More of Alan's mics? Sure, I can do that!
---------------------------------------------- What you've just typed is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever seen. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this forum is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul. |
