That's $700 new, a pretty good deal at the minimum bid. I've bought a few used mics in my day and have been lucky thus far. If the mic was there by itself for like $300 I'd do it, but I don't need a DMP3 and don't want to have to eBay it later.

At the minimum bid it's a good deal though.

It is a good deal from the standpoint of it being a lot off list, but I am not too surprised that there were not alot of takers.

For that money, I would rather get one decent piece of gear, than two so-so pieces. IMO, the Baby Bottle was a miss, though I know some people like it on guitar. Hey, I like a 57 or 421 on, elec guitar, and those two mics are much more versatile for less $$$. I thought the baby bottle was really sucky on drum overhead and vocs. It does look cool.

The Baby Bottle is a great mic in my opinion, especially on VO.

Actually, I am curious what you are a/b-ing it with. As far as mics in rhe same price range go, an SM-7 or RE-20 just crushes this thing on vocs, guitar, kick, percussion, strings, etc. I also think that the Shure KSM's, and even the audio technica mics (which I am not too fond of) are more useful to me than the baby bottle was. I am not saying it is an unuseable mic, but there are just so many other options that are more versatile.

r2ur0 is doing a very lengthy project on Native American storytellers and the Baby Bottle has sort of become his go to mic for a lot of it. The no. 2 mic seems to be the EV RE20.

I've tried it out. I think it's fairly nice. I don't think it's a mic that seems to get much respect from the home studio end or the pro end. I think the home studio guys like mics with some sort of hyped frequencies. I think the pro guys got more than enough mics they already know without needing to take the time to learn the Baby Bottle. But, if you don't like the AT 40 series, particularly the AT4040, then you won't like the Baby Bottle. So, don't bother.

I think the reason it hasn't been a smashing success is because it's kind of a tweener mic.

Depending on how you look at it . . . it could either be a really inexpensive high-class mic. Or it could be a pricey budget mic. Too pricey for the ultra-cheapskate, but too cheap for the gear snobs.

And I don't think anyone's really quite sorted that one out just yet, hence it's sluggish popularity.

Blue throws me off because they have 50 buck 20 foot cables and 200 buck pop filters. Of course those are list prices, but MF sells the pop filter for 180 bucks, and the 1" pop filter for the bottle is "valued at" 35 bucks.

I just can't help but think your paying for a lot of their name, which isn't so prestigeous at this point. And thats the main reason I've been avoiding their products. Also most their mics don't come with a shock mount and I am sure they are ultra expensive.

So far my baby bottle is working on everthing. Smooth, clear, no simbilence. Just wonderful. Through a Focusrite by the way.
