Hey Gang, I have finally launched my record label. The First Release is called “Destroying Silence: An Introduction to Veneto West Records” It’s a compilation of cool artists mostly in the prog – jazz fussion – avant garde vein. It’s a bunch of artists you may have never heard of but there are well known support players like Tony Levin, Mike Keneally, Pat Mastelotto, Lewis Pragasam, Jeff Guathier and of course yours truly.

This album is being sold exclusively through my distributor, DGM – Inner knot, who are also the distributor for artists like John Paul Jones and King Crimson.

As a short time promo, the CD is for sale direct for $5 (+ shipping)

You can get more details here and even order if it looks interesting. I have been working towards this for a while and I am really stoked to finally have it off the ground.

The disc came today. I'm listening as I type. The album has some of the best song titles this side of Don Caballero Applaud

I like alot of Tony Levins studio work and other off the beaten path stuff.

My only concern was lyrical content.

It is not my desire to censor anyone elses expression but I do screen what I listen to and what my kids listen to and see Just part of my personal discipline for spiritual and mental development. Personally it is my belief that there is a strong corolary with food diet affecting your physical health and lyrical or visual artistic media that sink into your consciousness over repeated listenings.

There are some things I am more lenient about for a one time setting like a live band versus something I repeatedly listen to and internalize to a certain extent over time.

When I got the Daniel Lanois CD For the Beauty of Wynona I had to flip the CD cover but otherwise great album.

Got way off on a tangent there but I am hoping "whacky" was applied more to musical form than something I would be bothered to let my children hear lyrically. No big deal either way though as I have to change the radio stations sometimes for the same reasons on some songs but it doesn't mean I don't change back again and I am happy to support your work either way.

I'd recommend you avoid Nashville Pussy records altogether. Wink

Didn't seem like anything concerning to me--alot of it is instrumental anyway. Very cool stuff! I'm really diggin this one.

The First 60 minutes of the album is instrumental and the last two songs with lyrics I think are pretty safe, its the instrumental stuff that is dangerous!!!!
