So what is up with the rankings other than the personal satisifaction of creating a well disigned and popular forum?

Does it mean more money from advertisers or just the personal satisfaction thing?

Rankings??? It's just the satisfaction of building something. It's kind of like making a CD that someone buys, or writing a song that gets licensed for a movie. The satisfaction of online is knowing there is traffic.

I don't wanna go off topic here, but is the Blue Door club in OK city still open?? It's a small little club but we always stop there on the way home from Texas. The last time we played there, the owner told us business wasn't so good. Just wondering... Confused

Yes, it's still open. I get the feeling that Greg has alienated a lot of people around here (myself included) through a certain elitist attitude.

I'd suggest trying VZD's and the Red Dirt Cafe as well. I can give you their info if you want.

I have sorta been hearing the same story as u about the elitist thing. We normally don't play those kinda clubs anymore, but Greg used to take us in the earlier days, give us a decent paying gig and feed us. Which meant a lot then. We aleays felt we owed him for that so we always try to book a Monday or Tuesday night if we are within 500 miles of OK City. I'm sorta thinkin' that may be coming to an end soon.

Thanx for the info.

I'd be happy to check out the possibility of promoting gigs here in partnership with you guys if you're interested. There are a couple of theatre size venues where people like Robert Earl Keen or Asleep at the Wheel play when they come through.

I'm just heading out on the road this morning for a week and a half jaunt. I'm totally interested in your idea. Email me with a way to get a hold of you and I 'll contact you when I get home. WE come to Texas at least once a year, usually in March or April. Robert Earl was the guy who broke us in Texas and we have remained freinds ever since.

email me at leedan@kwic.com and we'll get hooked up.
Thanx
Dan

I want to put my two cents in on Mojo Pie. It went to its own domain in August. It's up to about 100,000 now. Mojo Pie's site traffic has doubled to about 4,000 unique visitors per week since August.

the thing you need to consider is that forums tend to skew alexa numbers because you got people visiting throughout the day from different computers and they are visiting multiple times. however, i doubt the numbers are skewed more than 10,000 in this case. so, things are pretty impressive.

i was on here last night waiting for my wife to get home and it was very busy on studio forums. all this does make me wonder what people do as far as the basics of eating, sleeping and other necessities. i guess studio forums is as important as oxygen for some of us. Smile

Oh, I don't take the Alexa ratings as gospel, but it is a good indicator. And I'm mostly interested in comparing ratings to other forums.

Traffic Rank for studioforums.com: 59,642
Speed:  Very Fast (88th percentile)

Traffic Rank for prosoundweb.com: 60,287
Speed:  Very Slow (17th percentile)

Oh yeah, you're right on in your comparison to similar sites. That is where Alexa is very reliable in my opinion.
