Question:
The Mac forum at the HC forums is a little on the rocks at present and I was wondering at the possibilities of squeezing one in here. The HC Mac forum doesn't have a moderator and has been overrun with abuse which I have never experienced there before the end of last year. Kudos to Scott (HC) for the efforts he's put in to sort out the problems but it seems they are there to stay...

This board is fast and I know many of the people that come here. It would be a nice thought for it to be considered as board that could support a new Mac forum. Possible, now or in the future..?

Choices:
I love Mac's, go for it...
A Mac forum wouldn't be an eye sore, go for it...
I couldn't care either way
Not before a Windows forum...
I'll have to talk to my mother first.. ;P

I think a Mac forum might be a possibility in the future. Right now, we're just getting started and the real reason for the existence of Studio Forums is to provide forums for websites like Mojo Pie and The Listening Sessions.

If the main reason to start a Mac forum would be because another Mac forum is either not being run properly or has somehow just attracted a lot "abusive" behavior – I don't really want to touch that.

Studio Forums will grow slowly and organically based on the needs of the community. The way to have a Mac forum would be if one of the forums here, such as Recording Forum, became filled over a period of time with Mac-related posts. Then it would naturally become warranted.

Right now, I'm not really interested in starting a machine-specific forum just to start one.

i've thought about getting into some of the multimedia stuff for mac and pc on mojo pie. i know a lot of people into recording are into that as well. i'm thinking about it.

i think a mac forum could be a very good idea if started for all the right reasons. rimmer, have you asked scott at hc about being the moderator at the mac forum there. i'd put the word in for you. i doubt it'd do any good but it does not hurt not hurt to ask.

Thanks guys.

DOT. My reasons for wanting to start one here isn't really about the problems on the HC forum as such. If anything, the problems there have been another lesson in trying to turn things around by a process of befriending, which seems to be happening to some extent.

The big issue is that HC is slow and unreliable these days and unfortunately houses some of the most knowledgable and affable people I know on the internet, or anywhere for that matter. I noticed a shove of members from there to here and suspect the trend to continue. Something for the future maybe.. Just planting a seed then.. Razz

Oz. I have thought about the moderator position but decided for the same reasons as not wanting to pursue the recording moderator position (self-employment and erratic working away times) that I wouldn't be there for it the requisite amount. Thanks for the offer of passing on a good word all the same dude..

Regards

Rimmer

I would think that any home recording discussion board should have a thread dedicated to MAC users. MAC is the industry standard in the recording industry, and MAC has certainly done a lot to allow us home recording enthusiasts to pursue this hobby. Every now and then I'll experience an issue related to MAC, and I 'd greatly appreciate knowing a place where I can ask questions and get knowledgeable repsonses.

It should be noted at this point that Rimmer and I have been appointed Mods at H-C's MacOS forum - not to say that there shouldn't be others as well, just FYI. Happily, the abuse and trolling have disappeared and the forum is back to being a help to it's users. Smile

best regards,

If this place grows and some folks want to make a Mac forum - we can do that.

Last week Apple sent me a Dual 1.42GHz PowerPC G4. And this morning the HD on my G3 Powerbook decided to bug out and not work.

Hey, I've got Mac stuff to talk about. : )

Hey, I'm even browsing here with the new beta version of Safari that was just released for OS X.
