There's nobody to build it yet. We'd need a couple of really savy geeks to come forward and offer to moderate the forums.

I'm sure it'll happen at some point.

These forums are growing at a good healthy rate. Not too fast, not too slow - and keep the signal-to-noise ratio high.

I'd be interested in learning more. I have a computer and software I use in my setup, but haven't really spent appreciable time with it. A forum related to it would be great. I know some about computers, but not really as they apply to audio.

Dot, you might talk to Popmann. He seems pretty knowledgeable about audio software, he's a good engineer IMO, and I think his day job involves computer geekery. Smile

Me, I'm just a junior geek. Smile

That sounds great. I am just starting to get my feet wet by mastering to the computer now. If I have good luck, I may try to involve the computer in drum sequencing next, and then maybe tracking.

A forum like that would be a great help. Applaud

I forgot to email back, Dan...sorry.

I think you want someone to moderate the computer forum who doesn't hate them and wish they'd never entered recording studios. Wink

My day job is geekery...and I pray everyday that I'll be delivered from it. I'll obviously help where I can, but I think you want someone who is actually convinced they're a good recording solution to moderate. Hell, I want someone that I can ask questions of. Big Grin

I think I may be pickier than most of the computer recordists I know. Little clicks and pops...little delays from plug ins...MIDI timing problems...weirdness causing reboots. All serve to piss me off and take me out of "creative mode". I've minimized their use in my studio...we'll see how that goes.

I'm useless with computers...yet I cannot afford a Studer (or nice tape to go with it)...so I'm stuck computin' for now. I need all the help I can get!

The forum sounds good, let's hope we can get a couple dedicated, passionate geeks to help us out! Razz

I'd be interested in hearing about people's experiences-successes AND failures. I can tell a story about an album I heard made on a 500mhz P3 Sony with a stereo in/out USB audio interface. Tracked, edited, and mixed. Sounded great. Where there's a will...

OK, let's try it. I'll set up a new forum, we'll start off with Popman as a moderator and will add some more mods soon.

I'll move some of the computer/software topics over from the Recording Forum.
