1. Luna looks interesting? $200 street!

http://www.midiman.net/newproducts/resources/luna.html

2. The B5 looks like Alan Hyatt may have someone else to sue! This is about half the price of the SP C4, I wonder if it will sound anywhere near as good? If it does, I bet no-one will admit it!!

http://www.behringer.com/02_product...id=B-5&lang=eng

(BTW: Behringer also have a new 'C1' out too. It doesn't look like the SP one though)

3. The TLA, looks like some of the Chinese tube mics that are out there (exactly like SoundKing models). I wonder if it is a custom job, or off the shelf? I suspect that the pre amp/PSU will be better than the standard Chinese fair though? SRP is £750 I think?

Intriguing. I wonder how the TL will do...chinese tube mic are getting to be all the rage lately. I haven't gotten to hear any of them...

The B5 link doesn't work. Probably just as well, I'd probably barf if I saw it! Red Face Mad Big Laugh Moon

See if it works this time?

I am assuming that the B5 will not sound the same or as good as the SP C4 BTW. Still I hope if it is half decent at least people will admit it, as most are ashamed to even use the word Behringer!

Kane,
Is the SP C4 available as a single mic now? I've seen them sold only as pairs on the websites I know of.

KenMeister Cool

It is better to try and fail, than to never try at all.

Its not that big of a copy. Its a mic, there hasn't been any major innovations in the microphone for 50 years. I think its silly how when mid-priced budget companies copy akg and neumann they are praised, but when shitty companies copy the mid-priced budget companies every one gets so upset.

The reason they copy is because its cheaper to reverse engineer a product than it is to build one from scratch. And if behringer invented the next big thing no one would give 2 shits anyways until Neumann copied them!

If Behringer sickens you, they obviously aren't marketing to you. They are making it possible to have studios at any budget. My studio would not be possible without behringer at this point. I plan on burning my Truth monitors while dancing to enya and beating my sacred congas as soon as I can afford some Genelecs or KRK's, and throwing my MX9000 console off the highest peak I can find in Kansas as soon as I can afford an API or a NEVE, but for my budget and my needs they are performing quite nice for me.

I'm not broke enough to rely on their mics, but there are people that are. It's not just how much money someone has but how much they have budgeted for their studio and how much quality is a factor.

Behringer is not going to steal any customers from Studio Projects. And if they do, their product will have to be 3 times better at least, to make up for the name and reputation. And in that case Behringer wont need to apologize because the design has been around for 50+ years. Its all the same shit with different components and a different name slapped on it. Theres only so many ways to make a condensor mic.

I'm glad they are offering a compromised product for a compromised price. If you read their manuals they don't even pretend to be supporting their products as high pro quality gear. Lots of humor and mention of shortcuts. Reading the manual for my console makes me realize how much I saved going the behringer route instead of a 48 track Neve, API, or even Soundcraft or Mackie.

Lets see, 48 track Neve API = millions

If I had millions I would get laid and travel enough to have no intrest in recording.

48 track soundcraft = 20k (guess)

Well shit, thats my entire budget... can this thing make records by itself?

48 track mackie = same damn thing, twice the price.

Perhaps better pre's, but you end up with a budget board, when you could have bought a budget board and 4-8 channels of quality pre's.

See, Behringer filled the void and made it possible for me to have a studio. And if Behringer is making it possible for people to put together a mic closet big enough to record drums I give them the "Dustell" prize for such a generous act. Thanks Mr. Behringer Smile

Does that mean I shouldn't bother waiting?

Subject: Shipping date for Behringer B5

Hi there,
I'm looking at buying a pair of cheap small diapghram condensers and wondering whether to wait for these to start shipping. Do you have any confirmed shipping dates, and details of retailers who will be stocking these in the UK or Europe.

Thanks,
Daniel Smart

I haven't had a reply yet. In contrast, the times I've mailed Studio Projects I've got a reply straight back (from Alan Hyatt himself) - same experience with their dealers and distributors.

Well, email Neumann and ask them a similar question, it will be the same thing. Studio Projects is an amazing brand. They seem to be putting out products for MY needs, but you don't pay 3 times less with behringer because their support is great. Your compairing apples to oranges, wal-mart to the buckle, mcdonalds to the steak house. I prefer shopping at the buckle and the steak house because if you shop at gucci or the fancy resteraunts service starts going down hill, and snobbiness up hill. But some people would rather pay less for less, and some people HAVE to pay more for the best. But most of the "tweeners" on this board are better left in the middle.

Daniel-

Alan's companies are building a reputation as having OUTSTANDING customer service. Even the people who don't like him or his approach to marketing his products (If you don't know what I'm talking about, consider yourself lucky...) readily admit that Studio Projects and PMI Audio's customer service is about as good as they've ever seen. I've only had a couple of dealings with Alan, but they've been first class. His company treats the owner of a $79 Studio Projects B1 like the owner of a U87 would EXPECT to be treated by Neumann.

And that's the way it SHOULD be.

Say what you want about his marketing, but I'll guarantee he gets repeat business, in part because of the way he treats his customers. He also gets repeat business because he sells a good product at a good price.

----------------------------------------------

What you've just typed is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever seen. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this forum is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
