Ghia-
thanks so much for the kinds words!

glad to hear it sounds good in the car mix....

i don't think i could have ever finished the final mix off well enough to get it to do that!

it's funny, i've always considered "take it all" to be the weakest tune of the bunch, but people keep telling me they like that one...
good thing i don't know any better. i would have chopped it!
LOL Big Grin

i would imagine, if you listened thru a really fine monitor system, it'd be obvious it wasn't a 'extremely high dollar project'....... Wink

in fact, you'd wonder if i had spent the whole budget on good german beer instead.
LOL which i almost did....!

thanks for listening.....

on the road, listening in the 'phones, is a good way....

i tried to make mix elements exciting for headphone listening, without washing out on a big system....

did i succeed?!

hell, i don't know! LOL
but, i did try...

the mix, is of course, for me, a lesson in humility.

i know what i want, i just can't quite get there......
the only way i'm ever going to figure it out, it to just do it a lot...

i keep thinking, maybe if i had this gear, or that gear...
if i knew how to properly use a compressor during tracking....... Wink
if i had a distressor...
if i had a REAL mixing console! and decent monitors...
if i mixed without roland compression algorhythms.....(RDAC)

of course, i know better gear would help bring about better sonics, and all that..
and if i had the bucks to spend, i'd do it, because i love doing it.

but i never really aspired to be a killer engineer, i'm really just a songwriter...
but, the only way i'll ever get my stuff down, and out there, is to just do it myself, so i would hate to have my stuff weighed against 'honest' audio engineers that really know what they're doing.

i tried though.

so, don't study the mix to hard... you may discover the turd i polished.
LOL Big Grin

Gonzo, no need for you to say one thing negative, although I'm sure you're just being humble.

Definitely great stuff all around....writing, performing, AND recording!

Two thumbs way up, for sure.

madguitarst-
thanks for the words of encouragement.

i, in no way, am trying to compete with the sounds you can get from a 'real' studio with this release...

trust me, if i could have afforded to take my project to a real studio, i would have jumped on it!!
but, with my very meager gear, and skill level, i tried to capture a recording that was true to the sound..
true to the vibe...
and hopefully will stand the test of time, given the criteria and limits i was under.
i just wanted to record something that would be fun to listen to, and get some kind of message out there.
i just want some balance, and some kind of peace.
Wink

Kid-surf-
