I just found out that the publisher of Jazz Exodus, a quarterly independent newsletter, announced his "Top 10 Progressive Jazz CDs for 2004," and my album Two Days in November was #7. This is made even cooler by the fact that some of the other albums on the list were from Al Jarreau, Stanley Jordon and Jeff Hamilton--all amazing players.

Two Days in November, of course, is the album Dot recorded in my personal studio. It features my trio, JAZZOOO, in an intimate setting with minimal isolation between players for maximum good music! Wink

You can check the album out at http://www.thelisteningsessions.com/jazzooo.htm

Congrats, Dan!

Doug,

I just received "2 Days.." recently and I'm totally blown away! I've never spent much time listening to jazz, but that's all about to change. This CD is incredible. The songs are well written, the playing is impeccable and the recording is top notch!

I'm running sound for the local high school spring music concert this weekend and am playing this CD before the show, as people are being seated. Very relaxing background music. The sound of the brushed snare coming out of the horns is just gorgeous!

My hat is off to you, Duncan, Ken and Dan on a job most certainly "well done"!

P.S. To those who haven't heard this CD.... GET IT NOW!!

Jole, what kind words--thank you. They actually kind of 'send me' right now!

The mic used on that snare was my Studio Projects C1, run through a Millennia preamp and then ito the VS2480's analog inputs. I dig the C1 for snare, lemme tell ya.

Thanks for using my music that way--I hope everyone digs it. Did I also include the live CDR? Did you have any problems playing it? My Masterlink seems to be spitting out CDs with bits of crackle and pop lately...

Great job, guys.

The stuff I heard was outstanding...makes me realize that I've still got a lot of work to do before I start getting cocky about anything I've recorded yet.

Congratulations!

What you've just typed is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever seen. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this forum is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Jeez, Doug.... the least you could do is spell my name right!! Big Laugh

No, I didn't get a live CDR, but I did buy "Let Freedom Swing" which I haven't gotten around to listening to yet. Looking forward to giving it a spin.

Joel

My spelling is much more creative, Joel, but if you insist...Wink

That's right--I sent your CDs out on the ame day with a few other packages, sorry. I hope you'll enjoy Let Freedom Swing--it's a really interesting CD for me. It was a really delicate thing to arrange and play, taking those classic Americana songs and trying to do something new with them without sounding goofy.

Favorite cut: Wade in the Water, which I like to think sounds a bit like a Ray Charles instrumental. Jazz a Go Go!

Thanks everyone for your comments!
