i have used this pre a lot with a baby bottle for vox, and with a carvin stupid mic for electric guitar. for the electric, i did a sucky job of micing and recording most of the time, but i can see promise there with some good mics and placement.
for vox, i am not a huge fan. i ended up buying the solo610 and saw a MASSIVE difference in quality. such a big difference that even my wife noticed it (she usually doesn't care as much as i do about sound quality). i also use the 610 for live sound and it makes a huge difference there as well.
a friend of mine borrowed the ART and tried it on overheads...did a shootout with it and a tubetech, and actually liked the ART over the tubetech in that particular application. i haven't tried it on overheads myself so i don't know how i would like it, but he really did and he has been into recording longer than i have.
