Hey, I'd love to see a Listening Sessions dedicated to ribbon mics - with so many flooding the market and their popularity increasing, it would be a great reference, I think.

Mics I'd hope to hear include the sE R1, Peluso Ribbon, AEA stuff, Royer stuff, Crowley & Tripp stuff, Beyerdynamic stuff, as well as the cheaper mics (Shiny Box, Apex, Nady, etc...)

hey, dan, do you have access to an old Altec (or Western Electric) 639B? This is one ribbon/cardioid mic that i found at work a while back and I'm curious how it compares to others.

Caution.....

Ribbon mics vary WILDLY depending upon the Impedance of the Preamp used.
