I have an older copy of the graphic that shows various mics in relation to each other for Coloration and Transparency.

Is there a link to the new/updated chart?

Hi, bgavin. Here's a link to a topic with the chart. I don't know how "new" it is to you, since it's still very much in progress.

Whatever you see there is always the latest update.

If you know the placement position of the AT4047/SV, would you mind putting it on your chart?

Thanks in advance...

Hi, bgavin. The chart is in-progress. Mics are added periodically as time permits. The 4047 would be in the same area as the other AT40 series mics.

Thanks for the reply. I was curious about the AT4047, as it is billed as having a different type of tone.

Evidently it still is in the Bright/Neutral section of the chart, but with a different character of some sort?

Academic, anyway. I picked up a V67M based on your chart, as a distant commplement to my AT4040. It arrives shortly.

The chart is evolving nicely. At some point in the future, Dan's going to run of of space to place the names of the mics. It might be necessary at that time to have a few different charts, one for SDs, one of LDs, one for tube LDs, etc.

A few more mics have been added to the chart since the last time I looked at it. Dot's going to run out of space in the upper right quadrant pretty soon.
