really quick question...in my tracking room for general acoustic treatment (live drums mainly) could i (should i) use 2-inch instead of 4-inch rigid fiberglass pannels? I am looking at treating the ceiling and walls. The room is roughly 28x15x8. Would 18 2ft by 4ft pannels be sufficient?
Thanks,
Paul

2" panels will reduce the high mid/high end decay time in the room by a certain about based on the amount of square footage you cover. You might be okay with 2" panels, but 4" bass traps straddling the corners wouldn't be a bad idea. A well struck kick drum moves a lot of low end around a room.

18 would be a good start...you can always add more if you need to further reduce the room reverb. Think about the bass traps though...you may be masking a good bit of the high end response in the room unless you treat it for low end.
